Bracken Lee to Days of the Old West I ' wsSMIMsSMsA 1 1 Photo by courtesy of Salt Lake Tribune Mavis Hardy, center, queen of Days of the Old West, and attendants, Marilyn Badger, left and Shirley Deem, right, made a special trip to Salt Lake City and the capitol last Wednesday to invite Gov. J. Bracken Lee to attend the gala celebration. Wearing their rodeo ro-deo regalia, they told the governor gov-ernor of all the excitement and entertainment in store for August Aug-ust 19 and 20 at Deseret. Both days there will be a program staged at the fairgrounds fair-grounds at 10 a.m. Children's sports are events each day, beginning be-ginning at 1:0 p.m. The annual Millard county fair will exhibit all day long, including the flow er show, handcrafts and 4-H fair. And both nights will be filled with whoops and hollers for the duration of the big old-time, old-time, wild-west rodeos. Rodeo stock comes from the Intermountain Rodeo association, associa-tion, who offer $1500 prize money mon-ey and a silver engraved buckle buck-le for champion cowboy. The rodeo is approved for credits in national competition. Already cowboys are arriving for the Day and more expected. And seating capacity at the Deseret rodeo arena was recently expanded ex-panded to accomodate 6.000. Wheeee, says Gov. Lee, sounds like a good time to me. |
