Show Fly For Sliady Over !n CoisBsiy Sunday moring Leo Burraslon, Bill Slarley, Dick Morrison and Frank Beckwith made an airplane trip over the western and southwestern south-western area of Millard County for study of the area and for photographs photo-graphs of the principal interesting interest-ing things to be seen. First the abandoned river bed once used just beyond the site of Topaz. Then over Tatow Knobs and into Tule Valley. Here the course was changed south, noting the great fault of ancient times, and with special interest, the more recent and minor. Then on to Notch Peak where eral pictures were taken, and on down the valley past Fossil Mountain, Moun-tain, where Jack Watson used to live, and on to Crystal Peak, which the plane circled. This is an eyeful. eye-ful. Mr. Beckwith had gathered fossils there ,and had piloted scientists sci-entists and others by auto there several times. A picture was taken of the "submerged "sub-merged mountain" on the white hard pan: this is called "The Beau tiful Island of Nowhere." Then home by way of Sevier Lake, with a stop for cold tea at Tea Pot Mountain, and back again to the airport. Mr. Starley- thoroughly enjoyed the trip, none of which he had ever seen by air before. Considerable of this area was the scene of haylift operations last winter. All conditions of air and sunshine sun-shine were favorable and the flight fli-ght was very much enoyed by each of us. 1 |
