smelling sm elting remained nearly stationary according to reports and estimates made b by y producers and others and compiled by the geological survey lead mining the output of soft lead from mines in the mississippi valle valley y and the small output from mines in the eastern states together amounted to about short tons and that of lead from mines in the western states amounted to about tons a total of tons the corresponding figures for 1923 were tons from the mississippi valley and the eastern states and tons tolls from the western states a total of tons the southeastern missouri district made the largest output about tons as compared with tons in 1923 a gain of 15 per cent the coeur dalene district of idaho came next with about tons as against tons in 1923 utah ranked third with an
