Show THE OUTLOOK IS ROSY the pages of this issue of the mining review are largely given over to statistical anfor information mation concerning the status of the metal mining industry of particular value are the reports of the geological survey which through its various branches throughout the mining minin 9 west has covered the field and reported findings in in greater detail than is usually the case so soon after the close of a calendar year while reports for all the minin mining 9 states have not yet been received the compiled record shows that the mining smelt ing and associated industries enjoyed a most prosperous year during 1924 and that the outlook for mining m ining during this year of 1925 promises greatly to exceed the th past bast year these reports are given in detail in this impression because they are the result of impartial and systematic work on the part of government representatives who have been given every assistance by mine and operators we therefore commend them as being official everywhere and an d thoroughly representative of accomplishments in the field fiel d of mining over the states and sections of the country which chic h they cover in addition to the information supplied b by y the govern ment enough outside information has been gathered and reported to make it plain that great strides have been made in the better equipment of old properties in providing new nel and better methods of ore treatment and marketing faaili ties in illustrating the renewed impetus that has been given the industry throughout the various districts and a glimpse at the business that is being planned for the next twelve months every article and item breathes energy of effort for the coming months and as the severe winter vinter weather wears away it will be seen that new undertakings have been shaped up and that everybody concerned has been working with a purpose of taking advantage of and reaping the reward that the worlds demand for copper silver lead zinc and gold is already assuring the demand for machinery equipment and appliances with which to carry on has experienced an unprecedented acceleration during the closing months of 1924 and this demand is sure to grow with the approach of spring in addition to equipping new mines and prospects the building of new mills and reduction works in which to treat the ores the installation of new power plants the building of power lines tramways tram ways conduits and canals each will play a part in rounding out the latent industries of the western mining regions the field also will demand the services of thousands thousand of mining metallurgical and civil engineers mechanical engineers gi combustion engineers and experts in the handling of mine and mill power plants hoisting machinery transportation por tation equipment etc so that everybody with a profession the miner the millman the carpenter the brick mason the structural steel worker the electrician and even the day laborer will find there is something to do if be 6 wants to do it that is the outlook and what it all means is not hard to visualize it simply means that metal milij mining ig and its dependent industries are being plumed for an era of actie ity and prosperity such as this country has never before j known so lets shake off our lethargy and it get into the j running |
