Show I Porry Pulse Corinne Comment Wards set events for 'sweethearts' by Mrs. Max Nelson Cubmaster Richard Dickey conducted the meeting which highlighted a boat regatta. Each boy had made a boat and they raced them with Devon Wheeler as the Cub Scout winner and Eldon Ellis as the Webelos winner. Then Eldon Ellis was named the grand-winne- With the month of February comes Valentines Day and that means the annual sweethearts Balls" for the Perry and Perry Second wards. Tuesday evening, Feb. 12 ward Aaronic Priesthood MIA will host their ball. This year the dance will begin at 7 : 30 p.m. in the ward cultural hall. The ward will honor Darrell and Grace Nelson as this years sweethearts. the-Perr- An orchestra has r. Awards been engaged for the evening and best dress is encouraged. Members of the Nelson family will present the program and everyone, friends and relatives of the couple are invited to attend. The next evening, Wednesday, Feb. 13 the Perry Second ward will honor as their sweethearts this year, Ralph and Cora Vavricka. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. a special orchestra will play for their dance with a program during the evening. Members of the ward and friends are invited to attend. In Fast meeting Sunday Matthew Lee Maddox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Maddox was given his name by his grandfather Irvin Maddox. This was in the Perry Second ward. Also Jeffery Lund, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lund was confirmed a member of the church by his father. Jeffery was baptized on Friday night. Trudi Sybrowsky, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Sybrowsky was baptized and confirmed a member of the church on Friday evening. She was confirmed by her grandfather Sybrowsky. In the Perry ward Sahri McCoy was confirmed a member of church by Varsel Jenks. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman McCoy. See Game On Jan. 21 Doyle and Lynn Maddox and children , Troy, Todd, Julie and Angie were accompanied by Irvin Maddox and attended the Utah Stars game in Salt Lake. The occasion was to celebrate During the evening three numbers were chosen for the basketball pitch. T roy was lucky enough to be one of those chosen. Troy made his basket and was able to walk away $75 richer. Congratulations Troy. Troy then celebrated his 13 birthday on Jan. 29. We'd like to send special get well wishes to Wayne Jepperson who is ill in the Cooley hospital in Brigham. We hope he will be well and home in a hurry. Congratulations to Richard Dickey who was recently informed that he rated high in the Troys birthday. Costumer Satisfying Per- formance through Ford Motor Company. Richard is a mechanic at Anderson Ford and will receive a valuable prize for his job there. Jan. 25, eleven little friends joined Briget Tomlinson to help her celebrate her fourth birthday. Angie Maddox, Christine Birch, Tina Dinsdale, Kimmie Walker, Melvin Tingey, Scott Adams, Joy Norman, Gregory Weight, Tyler Weight, Lori Crouch and Michille Adams were on hand for the traditional games and refreshments. Briget is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brent Tomlinson. The Perry ward Primary Merri Miss girls held their nt daddy-daught- party on Jan. 25. The theme for the evening Western Roundup. The girls and their fathers enjoyed a barbeque supper. Teresa Dickey gave a tribute to their dads and Richard Dickey gave a' tribute to the daughters. Carolyn Nelson played a piano solo Midnight Cowboys They then enjoyed a few games and dancing. Teachers for the groups are Mrs. Larene Spendlove and Mrs. Mary Higgs. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Max Nelson and Reese, Kelly, Carolyn, and Peggy were at the Hardware ranch up Blacksmith fork canyon to watch them feed the elk. This is the first time we have ever been there to see this and really enjoyed it. We especially enjoyed the bobsled ride right into the herd of elk. The occasion was to celebrate Carolyn's 12 birthday. On our return home we stopped in Providence to visit with my brother and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Jensen. was Other Residents Perry residents at Hardware ranch. Also enjoying their outing were Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Stott and Wally and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Stott. Steven Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thamer Brown celebrated his 11th birthday last week. Members of his fifth grade class joined him in going to the show on Jan. 26 to celebrate his. The Perry ward cub scouts held their pack meeting Thursday evening, Jan. 31. We saw other presented that evening were: Devon Wheeler, bear badge, gold arrow, two silver arrows and his two year pin; Brian Billings, Wolf badge; Steven Brown, citizenship activity award, Arrow of Light, three-yea- r his pin and graduation card. Rodney Nelson his sportsman and athlete activity awards; Mike Smith, citizenship, sportsman activity awards and the Arrow of Light; award; Eldon Ellis, outdoorsman activity award and two year pin; Randy Wagstaff, engineer activity award and Ruland Local woman returns home Diane J. Young Beards castle. Then back Norma Bosley recently returned from a Caribbean cruise. She went with friends on a "Creative World Trip along with 252 people from this area. They flew from Salt Lake to San Juan, Puerto Rico where they boarded a Greek ship, RH-MAmerikanis". After a days tour of San Juan they boarded the boat and went to the island of Curacao. She stated that it was very interesting going through the open market and seeing the waterfront. From there they went to La Guaira, Venezuela, but because of a dock strike they were unable to tour the town, so they left to sail to the beautiful island of Grenada which is known as Island of Spice." They then left for Guadeloupe where they stayed at a hotel on top of the mountain, the only place they met any rain. From there they went to the island of St. Thomas where they toured Black Smoot and their children. to San Juan and the flight home. At each stop they had a special tour. Mrs. Bosley said she especially enjoyed meeting the people and seeing how they lived. She arrived home last Saturday from her eight day trip. S Grandchildren Maggie Ipsen is experiencing the joys of growing old this month. She has been blessed n and with both a a great-gregrandson. Her seventh great-grea- t grandson was born to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jensen of Kerns. He was born Feb. 4 weighing five pounds. Her 14th great grandchild was a boy born to Larry and Irene Jensen on Jan. 27, weighing in at eight pounds, five and a half ounces. He is their first child. They plan to name the little man Martin Roy. He is the third grandchild of Alvin and Pauleen Lucky. The other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bingham great-grandso- of Honeyville. great-grandfathe- r, He also has a B.A. Bingham of Honeyville. All the scouts and their parents are invited to attend the scout banquets this week. The Corinne ward scout banquet will be Friday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. the boys have a program planned. The Corinne second ward will have its scout banquet the following evening, Saturday, Feb. 9, at 8 p.m. Both will be serving a planned potluck dinner. The Corinne ward Relief society will have its work meeting Feb. 12. They plan to tie a tri-c- o quilt and doing modge-podgMr. Jaussi also plans to give a speech and a demonstration on dehydrated foods. All elders and prospective , elders should be looking for their invitations to the elders banquet Feb. 16. They will receive their food assignments for the planned potluck at that time. Also coming up is the Corinne Marrieds fireside Feb. 17. It will be at the home of Art Danielson. They expect to have a speaker on Food Storage. All married couples in the Corinne ward are invited. Stanley Ray Rathbone, son of Ronald and Shela Rathbone, was blessed Sunday by his grandfather, Joe Rathbone. Also in the circle was his father and Don Walker. Afterwards they had a dinner inviting the grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rathbone and Ella Gilbert. of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Craner was baptized Saturday and confirmed Sunday by her Traci Craner, daughter father. Her grandfather, Max Morgan assisted in the confirmation. Afterwards they had a dinner inviting Mr. and Mrs. Max Morgan from Brigham, Mr. Tamra Stokes and her two children, Tyler and Tammy, from Brigham, Mrs. June Craner, and Mr and Mrs. Sunday School The Sunday school class of Branson Neff, (the 18 till married group) had a special going away party for Roger Harper who will be leaving on a mission soon. They started their party by going to the Tremonton bowling alley. They then stopped off at the home of Karen Christianson for sloppy joes, root beer, ice cream, and cake. Norman Royal Bishop celebrated his birthday Monday night with his wife giving him a special party. She served a lovely turkey dinner to their family and special invited guests, Mr. and Mrs. Henry (James) Norman and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Carter. Mr. Norman says he is 29 and holding. Among those from Corinne attending the recent Community Concert were Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Bingham, Ela Gilbert, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Owens, Madge Henry, Wilma Johnson, and Pauleen ODell. They were entertained by two Spanish guitarist, the Romero Duo, performing flamico music. It was stated that the music was so moving it made you tingle. Veterans! Darrell Nelson was given a special thanks for his work with the Webelo den and Jim Hillier was introduced as the new den leader for the Webelos den. Slate Banquet The Perry Second ward will hold their Blue and Gold banquet Friday evening, Feb. 8 in the ward cultural hall, beginning at 6:30 p.m. With this being the date of the founding of the cub scouts it will carry a birthday theme. This is a special evening for the cub scouts, the Webelos and just their parents to enjoy an event together. The boys and their fathers will be busy baking and decorating their cakes to be auctioned off. Also during the evening awards will be presented to the boys. All boys and their parents are encouraged to be in attendance. They will hold their boat regatta on Feb. 21. Keep this date in mind also. Thieves steal gauges, smokes from BC station A pressure testing kit for auto radiators, valued at $45, and two cartons of cigarettes were stolen from a local service station during a weekend burglary, according to police reports. The items were taken from Genes Texaco at Seventh South and Main, sometime Saturday night or Sunday, according to Detective Gregory Kozak. He said that the thieves broke a window in the building and unlocked it. They then crawled through the window to enter the service station. Gene Watson, owner of the station, reported the theft to police Monday morning. Officers raid 2 homos Por'ce officers raided two local residences this past week and questioned over a dozen persons in connection with the drug related incidents. A total of 10 officers in five patrol cars converged on a southeast Brigham City home last Thursday at about 10:30 p.m. and broke up what was termed by police as a pot party. The following morning, Friday at about 3:30 a.m., after the arrests and questionings of the first raid were taken care of, police raided a second Brigham City residences on West Forest and made another arrest. A total of 13 persons were questioned in the incidents and five were arrested and charged with illegal possession of a a controlled substance, misdeameanor, according to the Brigham City Police detective division. Other charges are pending, police commented. The two drug raids were a combined effort and one of the largest raids in a long time in Brigham City, Detective Ernest Justesen said.
