Show I just ask him. Cutter Craze BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Come out Saturday and see which teams get to pose and put on a big smile for this event. This is how the races are paired for next week. Dont you by Marge Jensen Thursday, February 7, 1974 believe these horses havent had the royal treatment and the best of food. Come and see the results: Results from the Box Elder County Fairgrounds A Colts Udy & Tingey vs Neil Rhodes; Ken Moates vs Williams & Hunsaker; Seager & Jensen vs Gibbs & Sylvester & Var C. Flint; Dean Van vs Dee An- derson. Theres no place like this place anywhere near this place--sthis must be the place!! And this place is where the Bear River Cutter association has its big happening every Saturday. You just havent lived if you havent been to this place and watched the revival of the old Ben Hur style chariot racing. Thank goodness it doesn' t get as bloody as it was when the early Romans ran it. But, dont be mistaken-the- se races are just as exciting and same risks are thrilling-t- he still there and the desire to place first, hasnt diminished. o Win, Win, Win There is only one way these guys think and thats win-win-- Maybe they dont have a bevy of beautiful girls waving their colors and cheering them of those young on (hey-sodrivers do), but they have lovely (almost spelled lonely) wives and exuberant kids, screaming and yelling them up the track and across that finish me line. Oh, the races Saturday were beautiful! Ill bet it would make you sick if you had heard all those horses were promised if they won. The teams were in the peak of condition and the drivers were as nervous as beginners. It's a good thing those horses keep their cool. That track was as muddy, Im sure those drivers had their eyes shut after the first two jumps. Speed Boat Those chariots sprayed a wake of mud just like a speed The giant California condor does not breed until it is four or five years old. Normally it does not nest more often than every other year, probably because a young condor must be fed and cared for by its parents until it is more than one year old. it ,, J 't . ... i J boat. Judges and spectators were splashed and all four horses and the drivers were the same color when they crossed that finish line, a Tremonton gray. One comment was, those sure guys have to be nuts-I- m it helps if you are-j- ust a little. We sure had good races. The times werent the fastest run, but they were the dirtiest and the closest. We had a tie. Ron Vickery edged Lee & Avon Jones & McCrary out with an extra long, muddy whisker. The Jones team got a pair of those nylon ropes Ray Udy makes and Ron got a nice, clean, white nylon halter from the Four Season Supply. The Claude Allred & Sons No. 1 team got so eager to leave the gates they kicked the double tree off and they had to hook to another chariot. Lowell Estep was the winner of the closest run race in the colt division and got a nylon halter from the Four Season Supply. Jack Erickson got a set of No. 4 horse shoes from R&R Hardware. Boy, a guy needs those at this stage in the game. That Bill Roscoes team should really dance down the track next week. By now they have probably had several treatments with some good hoof conditioner that R&R Hdwr. gave him last week. Did you A colt teams see those beautiful green nylon reins we hung right at the finish line? Ye Old Homestead, of Portage, is presenting those to A the winning colt team. Thought if those colts saw them, they would stretch that neck . little - futh-e-- r just-- a The association sincerely appreciates the support it gets from the business men and county commissioners. We just wouldnt have the top quality events we have without you. Next week, trophies will be presented, and theres no way this could be possible without you. Feel good about it because every trophy, with the business sponsors name engraved on it, will be a priceless possession, and your name will be displayed in important places for years and years. We will list all of these and the winners of these B Colt Division Dan Chournos vs Paul Cornia; Billy & Sid Gibbs & L Poulsen vs Les Pebley; Lowell Estep vs Tom Davis; Bill Roscoe vs Burke Nielsen. coveted treasures the next weeks.
