Ofie was to reduce the taxation of the dead for purposes of revenue, and the other was to prevent the pesthousa nurses from shooting quail. The first was introduced by A. J. Davis, Da-vis, and was to the effect that according accord-ing to the report of the city sexton, $11383 has been turned into the city treasury over and above the expenses of that department for the year 1902, ,and, as it seemed unwise td tax the dead for revenue, the price of taking care of the lots In the cemetery should be" reduced from $6 to $3 per year. The resolution was referred to the Finance and Cemetery committees. The second, prohibiting pesthouse nurses from Fhooting quail, was Introduced Intro-duced by Sharp, and : passed unanimously. unani-mously. The attention of the Council was called to the condition of Main street la front of the Kelth-O'Brlen. Ubulldlng, where considerable' rubbish nas been dumped, and the matter was referred to the Streets committee. - J I The Council decided to purchase a machine to tf?p water mains, from two to twelve inches in diameter, at a cost of $2101. The Home Telephone company's bond of $25,009 was approved. Poundkeeper Lricken's salary was increased to SS0 per month, but the allowance al-lowance of $15 each month for his horse was cut off. The change is, however, to Ericksen's pront to the extent of $5 per month. . . . |
