Show Untuue. Major l'owcll, Indian agent, has just relumed from the Muddy Camp, aud stales that the great Indian oulragcs ate altogether untrue. Upon heating the reports Major Powell started for the reservation, reserva-tion, and the manner in which he cm-ducted cm-ducted affairs is highly commendable. He says Mr. hec was shot by a renegade rene-gade Indian not belonging to the Muddy tribe, and that tho Muddy lndiaus were much perplexed, and told hhu they had captured the bad Indian and proposed to hold him until the gro.il Fiochc chief arrived, but that he escaped es-caped one night, after badly culling several Indians with an axe. The major has sent Indians in different directions, aud it is probable the vagabond who shot Lee will bo captured. They asked the major for power to kill him when caught, but ho ordered tbem to bring him here, where he would receive bis dcserls. Pioc'xe Record. |
