Show CfTY COUNCfLMATTERS. A special meeting of the council was held on July 10th, Mayor Anderson An-derson presiding, and all present except Councilman Jensen. The Mayor stated the meeting was called to take into consideration considera-tion the recommendations of State Engineer Doremns, relative to high water and floods. Councilman Becker moved the City Engineer be instructed to make preliminary the special committee appointed to go in the canyon and make a preliminary pre-liminary survey of the dam, proposed pro-posed to be made at the Cotton-woods, Cotton-woods, reported the necessary work had been done. Report accepted. Councilman Tnttle moved that the city purchase 150 feet more of 2 inch fire hose. The motion was carried and matter referred to committee com-mittee on Fire Department. Mt Pleasant 1.50 Charles Hanson, services looking after Reserve 4.00 Nephi Ottoson, services looking after af-ter Reserve 11.00 Messenger, printing tax notices. . . 10.00 Free Press, publishing ordinance 2.10 State Engineer Doremus, professional profes-sional services, 150.00 After the minutes were read and approved, the council ad journed to July 28th. survey and estimate of cost of reservoir, res-ervoir, dam and overflow canal at the Cottonwoods, under direction of a special committee consisting of Councilmen Tnttle and Madsen; carried. Councilman Becker moved that the Mayor be authorized to instruct the City Attorney to notify all private owners of reservoirs in Manti canyon that in filling and tapping the same they must comply com-ply with the statute; carried. The Marshal reported he had had a man up the canyon who had reported to him that about 200 head of horned stock and horses were there. He save him the brands of the owners of the same. There are some herds of sheep that travel along from time to time. The school trustees owe the city $23.00 for disinfecting' the school house for year 1901, uncollected. The quarantine cases of diphtheria diph-theria were of a very mild type. Marshal's report was accepted. The minutes were accepted. Tieo-nlar meeting of council was held July 21, all members present but Councilman Madsen. The taxes of the following petitioners peti-tioners were remitted: Mrs. Maria Carlman, $2.00; Andrew Christofferson, $1.85; II. M. Thorson, $1.00; Mrs. II. A. Molter, $2.00. Bruce Brown petitioned for a bridge across the East hicrh water ditch. Referred to committee on Streets and Alleys, with power to act. Councilman Becker moved that the Mayor be authorized to sign and the Recorder to attest the contract con-tract with the Manti Light k Bower Co., according to minute of council of June 2, 1902, and accepted ac-cepted by the company according to minute of June IB, 1902. Carried. Car-ried. The reports of City Marshal and Watermaster were read and accepted. ac-cepted. The City Engineer reported he had made sketches of dams at the Cottonwoods, the same to be considered con-sidered at an adjourned meeting. The report was accepted. The Auditing committee reported report-ed they had audited the reports and the accounts for the quarter ending June 30. They found a deficit of $5.80 in the Recorder's report, which was belonging to the quarter ending Pec. 31, 1901. There was also a difference in the reports of the Marshal and Justice, and the Marshal's report was referred back for correction. The committee on Streets and Alleys reported that Harvey Bemus had moved his fence and repaired the road ; accepted. Councilman Tnttle reported that |
