Show PIONEER DAY. Another anniversary of Pioneer Day will be celebrated throughout Utah to-morrow. Year by year this day is becoming more and more a holiday with the general public, and it is meet and proper that all classes should lay aside business cares for a day to do honor hon-or to those who blazed the way towards making Utah a great and glorious commonwealth. It is a day on which all of us can mingle together and recount the thrilling experiences, the trials and hardships hard-ships endured by the early settlers, and give credit to whom credit is due in the grand work of reclamation reclama-tion commenced by the pioneers. The beginning made in 1847 was under the most adverse circumstances circum-stances and trying conditions, and it required mei and women with stout hearts to brave the many dangers and endure the hardships and sufferings of those early days. Each succeeding year has been an improvement over the other, until to-day the possibilities of Utah's future are second to none in the Union. All honor to the pioneers. |
