Mrs. Quigley lived with her son in this city for the past decade of years. Thoroughly Thor-oughly Christian, simple and humble, she never failed to impress all her acquaintances ac-quaintances with the charm and grandeur of an . ideal woman. Around her old home in Dubuque, la., with a large family, there was always peace and happiness. Both father and mother wanted to spend their last days with their youngest child, Charles Quigley, in this city. Dr. Quigley died a few years ago. His remains were carried to Dubuque and interred in the family lot in the Catholic cemetery. Since his death, Mrs. Quigley passed her days in silent mourning. Only when the son would return home would his presence recall the joy and happiness of a youthful mother in seeing her child. It was always a happy scene to see the venerable mother treat the full-grown full-grown man as her boy. She died a happy death. Her remains will rest side by side with her departed husband, hus-band, whom she loved and venerated when living. May both rest in peace and enjoy immortal bliss. Before shipment the remains were carried to St Mary's pro-cathedral, where Bishop Scanlan read the solemn services of the Catholic ritual over the remains. Father Ryan pronounced a touching- eulogy on the beautiful life of the deceased, known to him only through what he had heard of a simple sincere and earnest Christian, also from the fruits which she produced, verifying the words of Scripture that a bad tree could not produce good fruits. The remains were followed to the depot by a host of sincere friends, who sympathized with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Quigley in their sad bereavement. |
