Show Woods Cross Police Offer Assistance In Burglar Proofing As a feature of National Crime Prevention Week, Feb. 22-26, Woods Cross Police are continuing in the eighth week of their 13 week program to show residents how to burglar-proof their homes. PATROLMAN Scott Vaughan said March 31 is the last Thursday that the program will be presented. The city is divided into areas by the police and residents of each area are contacted by police on the Saturday prior to the Thursday session scheduled for their area. All meetings are held at 7:30 in the city hall. Patrolman Vaughan said the police department will continue to make contact with citizens not previously notified. no-tified. "Anyone who wasn't able to make their scheduled meeting may attend any Thursday meeting," he said. THE PROGRAM shows residents how to secure their homes, engrave articles that might be stolen and place stickers on their doors and windows to deter burglaries. Residents are also encouraged en-couraged to call police when they see a suspicious person or vehicle. "Often people don't call. They just shrug it off." Instruction is also given on the advisability of using dead bolts. PATROLMAN Vaughan said residents may also make arrangement to ask for home security checks. "This is advisable ad-visable since burglaries are on the increase in South Davis County," he said. In April the Woods Cross police department plans to hold a seminar to help businessmen prepare for burglaries. Two weeks ago a special program was held for deaf families in the city. Cathy Burns, interpreter, relayed the message to those in attendance. PATROLMAN Vaughan said the programs have been attended by 40 to 60 people each week, rk |
