Show The Capture of John Smith. The circumstances associated with the capture of the desperado John Smith, yesterday afternoon, only tend to confirm the reputation the convict has carried all along. He was discovered by Phineas Young at Dr. Young's asylum, immediately immedi-ately after deputies Franks and Vander-cook Vander-cook had made a search of the premises. ineir search was not a minute one, because be-cause there appeared to be an uncertainty of his being there. But before the officers had gotten many yards away Phineas Young saluted them with the announcement announce-ment that Smith was hiding in one of the outhouses near the asylum. The desperate fellow had secured several pieces of old iron, with which he was determined de-termined to make a bold and persistent defense. The command of Deputy Franks and the presentation of his pistol were both unheeded, and only when Deputy Vandercook's gun was placed in unpleasant proximity to Smith's person did he surrender. When he found it was useless to resist further he was quiet and harmless, and accompanied the officers back to the Pen without protest or trouble.
