Show " Iolanthe" The Matinee. One of the largest houses that has ever greeted any afternoon performance in thi3 city was present at the Theatre this afternoon to witness the repetition of "Iolanthe," and manifested even more appreciation of the beautiful little opera than was the case on the first presentation. presenta-tion. In every particular there was noticeable marked improvement over the former efforts of the company, com-pany, and the male chorus was especially the subject of favorable criticism, many of the audience stating stat-ing that no better, if as good, male chorus had ever appeared in any local performance, perform-ance, air. Dunbar's voice was almost rid of its hoarseness 'and did some good work, particularly in his duet with Mrs. Siegel. The solo by Miss Hawleyand the Boccacio trio were received with bounteous applause, and constituted an important attraction. The parts were all sung and acted with evidence of progress. pro-gress. "Iolanthe" will be repeated for the last time on Mondav niirht. and AfV Cla wson at the box office states that there are already the best assurances of a good house. The efforts of Prof. Krouse and his company are. in every way deserving of the complete success which they have met with. |
