Show A Doctor's Ill-Concealed Work. San Fbancisoo, November 12. Mrs. Cecelia Bowers, wife of Dr. J.Milton Bowers, of this city, died on the night of November 1st. Her lif e wiMhinsured in various beneficiary organizations for $17,000 favor of her husband. . It wa given out that she died from abcesa of the liver. Hurried arrangements arrange-ments were made for her burial, but before the burial took place an unknown person called at the coroner's office and stated there were reasons to suspect the woman had been poisoned by persons interested in obtaining the insurance on her life. On the strength of further developments her husband was arrested. The stomach and intestines of Mrs. Bowers were placed in the hands of Dr. W. D.Johnson for analysis. In his report re-port at the coroners inquest yesterday he states he has no hesitation in asserting that the cause of Mrs. Bower's death was poison-ing poison-ing by phosphorus. The coroner's jury last night rendered two verdicts in the Bowers case, signed by five of the six jurymen, charging Dr. Bowers with the murder of his wife by administering poison. , |
