Show Upbeat popular chatter By DAVID YOUNG AND RYAN PITT Steven Speilberg seems to have a magic touch when it comes to making movies. His latest production is no exception. "Batteries "Bat-teries Not Included" has already made three and a-half million dollars. During this past week we went and saw it. We both enjoyed it but found that some of it was for a younger audience. In the more ancient side of New York live Mr. and Mrs. Riley, an older couple struggling to keep their apartment building and diner away from demolition teams who are planning to construct con-struct a new building complex. Other apartment residents are also having small living problems, and all Mr. and Mrs. Riley can hope for is a miracle. Then that night, Faye Riley leaves the window open. They asked for a miracle and of course they get it. (Just like in all of Steven Speilberg's films.) As luck would have it, two space crafts come to earth and they happen to stop off at the Riley ' s to refuel. They end up spending a little time with their new friends and would vou believe it? Thev have baby spacecrafts! (Isn't that special?!) With the help of the aliens they try to beat off the developers who still want to knock down the diner. We are not going to tell you how it ends because of course, that would ruin all the fun. We both recommend this movie and before you go, may we also suggest that you make sure your wallet is full, since the prices of refreshments are more outrageous than the ticket prices! We both agree that this is a three star film ()and that it is rated PG for mild violence, a few profanities and for those who are easily offended, a nude painting. Since the New Year is close at hand we would like to remind you that it is time to make some New Year's Resolutions once again. Although many of the promises we make to ourselves are not always kept, we hope that you will remember to make at least one definite commitment. And that is that you will continue con-tinue to read our articles every week. In return, we will resolve to make our column a fun and as interesting as possible. Also remember to have a fun and Happy New Year!!! |
