Show Retired persons hold December meeting 'Little Drummer Boy." The next regular meeting of the chapter will be held Jan. 18, 1988 at 12:30 p.m. in the art room of the Golden Years Center. Everyone is invited to attend these monthly meetings and to join the South Davis Chapter. This organization gives fine programs to benefit the senior citizens. By KATHRYN JENNINGS The South Davis Chapter of American Association of Retired Persons met Dec. 21 , at the Golden Years Center, with Walter Willey, president, presiding. May Jones gave the invocation and Aurelia Olsen led the pledge of allegiance. Dorothy Willey, secretary, read the minutes of the November meeting meet-ing and they were approved. The president read a letter announcing the National AARP programs which will be broadcast on TV Channel 11. The programs will be :rd on Saturday and Thursday; check your TV programs prog-rams for the time on each day. Guest speaker Lee Kaschmilper was introduced and spoke on the free help given to senior citizens at their Centers, in preparing their 1987 tax forms. Retired IRS people give their services at the senior citizen centers cen-ters in assisting with tax forms. Most people will need help in preparing pre-paring the forms, for there are many changes in these 1987 forms. Watch for the dates when volunteers volun-teers assist the people who go to the Golden Years Center. There will be several people assisting again this year. Donald Shockey, of Salt Lake City, and a member of the AARP's Utah State Legislative Committee installed new officers in the local chapter. Aurelia Olsen was installed president; pres-ident; Milton Ouzts, first vice-president; vice-president; Bruce Frodsham, second vice-president; Vonda Burningham, secretary and Nora Stringham, treasurer. Christmas music was provided by fine musicians, John Norberg, John Kirkham, Daka Davis and Idonna Lawley. Howard Stringham announced the program which was a film. |
