Show Fred Gehhardt's Costly Oil Painting. When the baggage which Fred Geb-hardt Geb-hardt brought home from England on the steamship "Celtic" was examined by the customs officers a costly oil painting was found. It was a portrait of a lady, said to be Mrs. Langtry. The picture was held to be dutiable'.but Mr. Gebhardt disputed dis-puted this ruling. After an argument on the dock Mr. Gebhardt took an oath that the portrait was a part of his household goods. This was appartently satisfactory to the customs officials, and the picture was passed free of duty. |
