Show Hoxie Don't Want a Conference. St. Loots, March 17. Vice-President Hoxie to-day received a dispatch from Se-dalia, Se-dalia, signed by Martin Irons, Chairman of the Knights of Labor, asking when a committee com-mittee of the Knights of Labor would be admitted to a conference with him for the purpose of adjusting pending troubles. To this Hoxie replied he could not see how such a meeting would adjust troubles, as the reason for the difficulties was the discharge of an employe of the road under his control. Hoxie said further, that the strike had so far reduced traffio that the road would not soon again require as many men as heretofore, but all good men desiring employment, and who were acoeptible to the Superintendent , would promptly be paid for services rendered, ren-dered, and should they have any complaints he would take pleasure in meeting them to discuss the same. |
