At 9 o'clock last night Teligious services were held at the late residence of. Mr.' McCullough, at whioh only, members of the"1 family-' and a few friends were -present. At ihe conclusion, quite a large number of people were allowed, to view tne remains oeiore oeing removed to St. George's Hall, to whioh place the body was taken at 10 p. m. The body will lie in state till 11 o'clock this morning. A guard of honor, delegated by the Philadelphia Lodge of Elks, was plaoed over the remains last night. At 11 o'clock the doors will be closed ; publio services will be held at 2 o'clock. Philadelphia, November 12. This morning the doors of St. George's Hall giving entrance to the spare room m which the body lay were thrown open and the publio admitted. It is estimated that nearly 8,000 people looked upon the features of the dead actor, and fully 12,000 failed to gam admittance. It was after 11 o'clock when the solemn services began. Upon the conclusion of the exercises at the hall, the remains were given in charge of the Philadelphia Section of the Elks,who, in conjunction con-junction with their brethren from New York, St. Louis, Chicago and other cities, escorted them to Monument Cemetery, where, after performing the impressive rites of the order, the remains were consigned to the vault, where they will rest for the present. |
