Show J NINE ARRAIGNMENTS Two Brethren Plead Guilty and the Rest Will Go to Trial I The only business dno in the Third District Court today ou iae of the regular regu-lar routine of the bribery trial was the arraignment of nine of the brethren upon indictments containing from one to five counts Isaac Pierce was the first one arraigned ar-raigned He listened attentively to the I reading of a fivecount indictment and then entered the somewhat unusual un-usual plea of an unqualified guilty October 8th at 10 a m was set as the time for sentence and it is to be hoped that in the meantime he will see fit to promise to obey the law Brother Pierce should reflect that five counts furnish material for very healthy term in the Pen and then act accordingly r accord-ingly I John B Furster also pleaded guilty but his indictment contained but one count This case has been done up in short order He was arrested but little more than a week ago and since that time has been before the Commissioner the Grand Jury and the Court He will be sentenced on Friday the 1st of October Octo-ber at 10 a m John Gillespie of this city was then arraigned on a twocount indictment and entered a plea of not guilty Amos H Neff of Mill Creek entered a similar plea to a similar indictment B H Schettler the cashier of Zions Savings Bank who was arrested only a short time ago was then arraigned The indictment against him contained four counts and he wisely took his only chance of escape by pleading not guilty Henry Reiser of this city then en I tened a plea of not guilty to a one count indictment William H Foster who runs the turning turn-ing shop opposite the Walker House listened to a onecounter and murmured a not guilty John Cartwright and David W Leaker completed the list by entering a plea of not guilty to onecount indictments |
