Show THE BLUE CHURCH A ilrctiiig to Consider thc matter of Inltc Untiling A meeting of the Blue Church was held last evening at the aristocratic chapel on Plum Alley and was marked by the attendance of many of the best families that the denomination denomina-tion can boast President Sullivan occupied the pulpit for the principal part of the evening and surprised the congregation by an unusually un-usually logical and eloquent speech The pathetic parts of the sermon were especially es-pecially notable his words in places bringing tears of beer to tho hot eyes of the listeners His Reverend Nobbs began by stating that the object of the meeting was to consider con-sider the matter of lake bathing from an ethical and physical standpoint He first exhorted the people not to bathe in the lake but said that they might iro to the resorts and enjoy all l the t other pleasures to be found there He pointed out the fact that it was strictly against the rules of the church and in violation of direct revelation to bathe in the summer or to touch water in any form during months that have an r in them In these months beer is good and should be disposed of in a proper way His sentiments met with a general response from the congregation and long after the meeting was over his fine utterances could be heard vibrating the heart strings of each and every hearer and he went his or her way toward to-ward home When the convention was over it was agreed that the sense of the meeting b a general opposition to bathing of any kind and upon motion of the chairman resolutions in town of respect to all the brewers I |
