Show THE TEMPLE OF HONOR Something of the Oritflu and Progr ross of the Order The Temple of Honor was instituted in 1845 Its founders were among the wisest wis-est and truest of the Sons of Temperance Feeling the needs of stronger bonds of fraternity and more binding moral requirements re-quirements they formed this Order intending in-tending it to be a higher degree into which worthy Sons of Temperance should be advanced a they desired to progress in a better life In time tho Temple of Honor became an independent organization but it has always retained the lofty spirit and principles prin-ciples in which it was founded I is PRIMARILY A TEMPERANCE SOCIETY I Laboring to stamp out one of the greatest foes of the human race Total abstinence is the essential spirit which pervades tho whole organization and it if thoroughly and radically a TEMPERANCE POWER Asa As-a mere temperance society it is deserving the commendation and support of all friends of this reform al I But the Temple of Honor is more than a temperance society I realizes that asymmetrical I a-symmetrical character must include more j than mere total abstinence I FRATERNITY is ono of the principles of the Order It has been said that were all the temper beet n 1 t1 tempr I anco stricken out of the Temple of Honor the fraternal features that remained would constitute a worthy rival of othe fraternal orders The Temple of Honor strives to bring mankind into the closest ties of friendship and by this peculiarity it is a stronger power for temperance The novitiate is made to feel that the pledge is a mutual one brothers pledg ing to help him while he pledges against rum The man wih alcholicpermeated alcholcpermeated body has taken up a great task But fellow men surround him saying Brother I awakes selfrespect and I helps him iahis mighty struggle The policy of the Temple of Honor is j not only to bring mankind into the closest ties of friendship bu also to insist in-sist upon the practice of the highest and purest moral principles In this view i < its symbolic mottoes are Truth Love Purity and Fidelity Everything that ist j dishonorable we eschew and it is as I I a much a v elation of our pledge to h im pure unfraternal or truthless a it is to drink intoxicants MUTUAL BENEFITS I A true brother of the Order I Orer must visit watch with tho sick assist Ju i asiBt mL burying i the dead give aid to the suffering and i needy and do all good 11 sufering acts There is also special provision I i made for weekly payments in cases of sickness by beneficial Temples I se The Temple of Honor is designated to I elevate and purify our race and has unsurpassed I un-surpassed machinery for accomplishing I its i purpose The Grand Temple of Honor of Utah I and Wyoming will meet in annual session ses-sion at Evanston Wyo on Monday June Cth A large delegation goes from I I here on the 5th God Hope Temple No6 of this Jurisdiction Juris-diction was instituted at Rawlins Wyo a few days ago the members of svhicl consists of the leading men of that place The Order throughout both Territories Ter-ritories is doing well |
