Show REDUCE TAXATION I If there is anyone thing in National legislative t leg-islative demands which calls louder for prompt and vigorous action that one thing is undoubtedly the demand for the reduction of taxation This is a matter that admits of the least possible delay Reduction of taxation is rapidly assuming the form of an imperative National necessity neces-sity accumulations of the treasury are already enormous and to allow them togo I to-go on at the present rate must in a short time bring about the direst financial calamities ca-lamities The way in which the surplus revenue is piling up in the Treasury is a staggering problem in National addition and multiplication The excels of receipts re-ceipts over expenditures IP now from 10000000 to 12000000 per month The bnrden of a day is always al-ways sufficient and it is the I rankest injustice and oppression to weigh the people down with a load I there is no earthly necessity of their lJ 1 carrying In fact they would he far better off without this added burden r t The revenues should be cut down at the earliest possible moment at least 100 000000 a year Taxation beyond the public needs is direct and flagrant private robbery The Government is 3 Ii annually stealing from the people Ii I 100000000 Was there ever a morn gigantic theft than this And it is the very wantonness of theft The I Government has no use whatever for I this enormous sum One Hundred millions mil-lions of dollars are yearly filched from I the people for mer hoarding purposes I f This if i not in any measure the fault oft of-t thcxGovcrnment The Administration is t hut an irresponsible agent in the matter Legislation has legalized the theft and the Government must consummate I con-summate it This is a case I solely fr Congressional consideration consider-ation and action And as such the people peo-ple can charge this enormous item to the t t already onerous and overshadowing account I ac-count of Republicanism It is the old leaven of Republicanism which works against relief from unnecessary taxation It is the Republican itch for public plunder plun-der which thus continues to rob the people j peo-ple But the indications are that the I jii patience of the people is about exhausted I ex-hausted They want no surplus of revenue rev-enue and will not longer submit to the thriving imposition d |
