Groves at the Park The Main Attraction at the Beach A visit to Lake Park the beautiful resort re-sort established last year on tho eastern shore of the lake will remove all fears i you have any as to the future of this great pleasure ground The principal feature new since last year is the pavilion by far the handsomest hand-somest structure of the kind in Utah This contains a fine large dancing floor and musicians stand and is supplied with convenient retiring rooms for ladies and gentlemen While it is an open structure awnings will be hung on the west and south sides in such a waY as to keep off the midday and afternoon sun To the north of the pavilion is the restaurant res-taurant which has been entirely refitted since last summer and with one of the best arranged kitchens in the country everything will be in strictly firstclass order for serving all that the most fastidious desire To add can to the comfort of the restaurant the doors and screens windows are all supplied with fly The bar at the south of the pavilion has been enlarged and being oval inform in-form an immense throng of the thirsty can be accommodated at once THE IIATIIINQ ACCOMMODATIONS Are better than ever before There are about seventy neat bathrooms ready for use and before the summer is over the number will run up to 200 The pier which was always a pleasant one is being greatly improved I has been extended out into the water 240 feet making it in all 400 feet long I will also be widened and arranged so that bathers can jump from it at any point There area are-a number of row boats all ready for use now and twelve fine 18foot Racine boats are on the way The bottom of the lake is in good condition and the water is clear and pleasant The main office is supplied with an immense im-mense number suits of all styles and sizes There is also a good safe for valuables valu-ables which will be taken care of for the bathers The bathing facilities are in fact strictly firstclass and the public is sure to show its annreciation THE GROUNDS Are greatly improved since last year Thousands of young trees have been setout set-out and though they of course as yet I afford no shade they give an excellent idea i of what the Park will be in n fow years The circle around which tho train runs has a row of thriving young poplars on either side of it and the ground inside is being leveled off for a general sporting sport-ing place Around the outside of the circle stand the new runner houses at convenientintervals These are supplied with tables and seats and will be well shaded with trees and vines which are already growing nicely A good spot has been selected for a race course which will probably be built before be-fore the oeason is over There arc two fine solid groves of trees set out just east of the track which will form the most charmini retreats A Ions pond of fresh water between the two groves will be widened into 1 little lake of and the will place add much to th resqueness It would bo inpossible to mention all of the many accomodations to ba found at this place but as nearly everyone will go there on Monday they can see for themselves and will be given a chance to scow their appreciation of what the enterprising management have done for them The Park will be formally opened on Decoration Day when Helds baud gives the first grand excursion of the season Go and Fee the new Lake Park nJIELD Yesterdays train left the Nevada depot with a jolly party all intent upon having a good time Among these were the following fol-lowing wellknown gentlemen Governor West Hoyt Sherman Dr Benndict Jos 1 Jennings Charley Read Major Stanton J S Black R Mackintosh Sam Levy Dr Davis W I Coates Saginaw i Mich S I Lewicky an e member mem-ber of the press of New York and Alfred Lambourne the artist The run out was made in good time and tho scene of activity presented was startling start-ling to the old patrons Like black birds on n field of ripening grain the 170 workmen appeared upon IP roofs of the rapidly rising building fhe din was deafening and it is < n s often that one sees a building actually sro before his eyes but this is the case at Garfield The train stopped at the old bowery and those who wished to test the water were soon plunging and splashing about in the saline surf and they all pronounced it delightful The 200 bath houses and the covered promenade arc nearly completed The pavilion extending east and west from the end of the promenade is being pushed ahead rapidly The Station in which will be situated the cloak rooms waiting rooms restaurant etc is being roofed in and will soon be ready for the painter The steamer Garfield is bsing overhauled over-hauled and refitted and will be moored to the west end of the pavilion pier thus affording ample accommodations to those who wish to live on the briny billows during the summer They have an immense im-mense well thirty feet in diameter and twentyfive feet deep in which there is twelve and a half feet of fresh water A boiler is being set near tho well which will be used to pump the water from tho well into the reservoir from whence it will be taken in pipes to tho bath rooms for shower Will Carroll Car-roll the gentlemanly manager is ever watchful for the comfort and convenience of guests and when the time comes for opening Messrs Eppingar Waterman I Carroll and Dyer will make a strong combination com-bination that can be relied upon The company are to be congratulated for their energy and judgment in making these much needed improvements Mr Lam bourne has been
