Show J 2 UTAHS BUILDING STONES Samples Submitted to the Board of Construction of Colorados Capitol The Denver TribuneRepuUican of the 14th says The Board of Capitol Managers Mana-gers in April last advertised for samples of buiiding stones for the construction of the State Capitol building Yesterday a reporter visited the rooms of the Board in the Barclay Block and found a large and interesting display of samples from the various Colorado quarries as well as from adjoining States and Territories Secretary George T Clark showed the reporter various samples that had been sent in The stones will be given a I thorough examination and test by the I Denver Society of Civil Engineers and the School of Mines at Golden All interested in-terested are invited to call at the rooms of the Board and examine the specimens The following are the samples from Utah The Utah marble from Thistle Station on the Denver Rio Grande railroad attracts a great deal of attention for its beauty and color and fine quality It is similar to the Tennpsspo marble The Utah brown sandstone from Thistle Station on the Denver Rio Grande railroad is a fine brown stone similar to the brown stone used in the elegant dwellings on Fifth Avenue New York No stone better adapted to the purpose or more elegant in appearance is included in-cluded in the list than the specimen from Utah and the report of the board will be awaited with much interest by those interested in the Utah quarries Should the contract be secured it would bring thausands of dollars into the Territory Terri-tory and doubtless be the commencement commence-ment of a prosperous industry |
