| Show DAMNED BY DYNAMITE History of the Convicted Dynamiters Given by an American The Sons of Freedom and H The Society of Avengers Bnrtbn9 s Connection Withthe London Tower and Bridge Explosions i 1 r J 3 t A Strong Statement by an American LONDON May19 ThoPress Association has issued a twocojlumn statement by an American giving full details of the dynamite plots of Burton It is stated that he was one of the centers of the society called THE EGBERT EMMETT ASSOCIATION Or the Sons of Freedom Each center directed di-rected party plotters who were unknown to eachother Therefore a party of men might be working in the same plot at the place unknown to each other The chief of the society was not ODonovan Rossa but a maujresidmg Philadelphia Burton alias James Feenywas long la bosom friend of Rossa While in Baltimore Burton was a constant visitor at the house of a handsome quadroon woman named May Smith Other parties were offended at and complained at this connection which resulted in the recall re-call of Burton to New York A fortnight later THE WOMAN WAS FOUND DEAD Having been shot in a mysterious manner In 1880 Burton quarreled with Rossa and they have since been bitter enemies Burton Bur-ton founded the Society of Avengers It is believed that Burtons motive throughout was not patriotic but pecuniary The statement state-ment gives the method by which explosives were brought to England The Gower street explosion was done by an older brother of Cunningham resembling the latter who escaped to America immediately after the explosion Burton directed nlC the explosions explo-sions except that at the London bridge He detailed Cunningham and another man to blow up the tower Cunningham only watched while another man placed the explosive ex-plosive His accomplice escaped before the fuse was consumed Three men effected the Westminster explosions two of whom were in female attire and carried the EXPLOSIVES IN THEIB EOOPSKIBTS All three escaped The attempt to blow up the Albert memorial jfailed owing to tho enclosure en-closure of game The package of dynamite is probably still in the Serpentine |
