| Show UNLAWFUL COHABITATION II I I John Nicholson Editor of the Deseret News Arrested for That Offense The following complaint was filed with United States Commissioner McKay yesterday yes-terday To Wm JcATav Esq Commissioner of the Supreme Court of Utah Territory E A Ireland of Salt Lake City in the County of Salt Lake and Territory of Utah on behalf of the United States of America complains that John Nicholson of said city and county on the 1st day of April 1882 did live and cohabit and ever since the date last aforesaid has continuously continu-ously Jived and cohabited with more than one woman towit with one Susanna Edith and one Myra Cutler against the peace and dignity of the United States of America etc 0 E A IRELAND Complainant A warrant was immediately issued for Mr Nicholsons arrest which was placed in Deputy Marshal Spragues hands this morning Mr Sprague started for Mr Nic holsons residence about 9 oclock and met him on the street just below Rowland Row-land Hall The warrant was read and served andMr Nicholson without a word accompanied the officer to Judge McKays office where he waived examination and was bound over to appear before the Grand Jury bail being fixed at 1500 Francis Cope and John Sharp Jun appeared ap-peared as sureties and Mr Nicholson was released As the Grand Jury is now in session it is probable the case will be investigated in-vestigated immediately Mr Nicholson has since the recent sudden sud-den disappearance oi Charles W Penrose been editorial manager of the Deseret News He also gained some notoriety last fall by delivering a lecture in the Salt Lake Theatre in which he alleged a conspiracy con-spiracy against the Mormon Church existed ex-isted among the Gentiles of Utah I I |
