| Show THE WOI11C OP A WILl 1I0RSEJ Y fIIIP I 1 sastainaSai d < tl Injuries t I Jot Travis JnJnsao Un j juries I II titammo ti Steed Last night Mr EJ Travis the popular popu-lar horseman of this city was brought I down from his ranch in Idaho in a very critical condition A DEMOCRAT reporter called at the family residenc3 on First East today and learned the full particulars par-ticulars of the narrow escape from death experienced by Mr Travis It appears that he went to his horse ranch about two weeks ago located on Snake river ten miles from American Falls A week ago last Monday morning he and some of his men secured a bunch of wild horses in a corral and one of the boys proceeded to lasso a particular animal of the band but failed to accomplish the task Mr Travis with his characteristic horsemanship I horseman-ship got impatient watching the futile I attempts of the cowboys to rope the wild horse and said he would just manage the halfbreed allim himself He therefore took the rope rent inside the pen and after considerable dodging and vain endeavors t en-deavors to keep out of danger and at the same time catch tho horse he succeeded in bringing him up standing hen the frightened brute realized he was in the hands of a manager he immediately commenced an engagement in which Mr Travis was forced to play the lower role I The animal seems to have gone mad at his capture and rearing upon hIS auiu legs he drove Mr Travis into a corner und rushed upon him with open mouth stiikinjr out wjth his feet and felling Jot to tho ground Mr Travis exerted ex-erted his utmost strength in endeavoring to free himself from the wild horse but the brute kept up his kicking striking strik-ing and biting until several of the men by means of the rope pulled him away from Mr Travis Upon examination Mr Travis face was found to be badly cut and bruised the right shoulder dislocated and the arm sprained Ono of his ankles was also severely sprained tho tenon ten-on lacerated and a piece of the bone of the ankle broken off Dr Benedict was promptly called and attended at-tended to the painful injuries Through fear of inflamation setting in the face wounds will not be dressed at present Mr Travis is an oldtime trainer and handler of all sorts of horses but says he never expected to jet such treatment from any source lie knows that this fiery devil will make a fine durable animal ani-mal when he gets him well broken and gives him about two years on a threshing thresh-ing machine or the city fire engine |
