| Show THE CITY COUNCIL Petitions Kcports and Miscellaneous Miscellane-ous Business Considered The city fathers met in regular session last evening Mayor Sharp presiding Bolivar Roberts asked the privilege of using a portion of the street in front of his residence on which to store building material It was granted B F Martin and Don C Tufts were granted a continuance of retail liquor licenses for their places on First South street William F Paul of the Tenth Ward petitioned for a remittance of his store license owing to the fact of his illhealth and the small amount of business done in consequence Granted KEPORTS Judge Speirs handed in his report as Police Justice last month in which seventysix cases were tried The fines assessed amounted to 204 cash and 411 labor in all 615 Referred to Committee Commit-tee on Police The same committee reported they had examined the City Marshals report of expenditures for the month of April and found it all right It was recommended that 53 be appropriated to the amount to make up the deficiency Adopted E P Beesley and others presented a report to the Council through the Committee Com-mittee on Streets and Alleys asking that Almond street be straightened The committee recommended that when the people deeded the city the hind for the new street to be made the land occupied by the old street now in use be conveyed to the adjacent property owners Adopted The same committee suggested the granting of the petition of Mr Montgomery Montgom-ery asking the grading of a portion of Second South street Adopted The Finance Committee reported on the submitted reports of the City Auditor that they had examined them all some dated 1884 and found them correct On motion the Auditors reports were accepted ac-cepted and the sum of 15041 transferred from the city treasury to the sinking fund T W Taylor was allowed 50 for work in the Assessor and Collectors office and 14381 was allowed the U C shops for repairs to the fire steamer The amount of 2000 was appropriated to pay the accrued interest on the 50000 note of Thomas Marshall Council adjourned one week |
