Show f PROSPEROUS IDAHO Colonel Shoup Declares That Everything Every-thing is Lovely iu Utahs Sioter Territory Col Geo L Shoup Idahos commissioner commis-sioner to the New Orleans Exposition arrived ar-rived from the north last evening Colonel i Col-onel Shoup is returning to his post of duty at the cotton show after spending a few weeks in attending to business in Idaho In response to the inquiries of a reporter he stated the Exposition would close about the latter part of May Idahos magnificent exhibit will then be sent to the Smithsonian Institute at Washington and the mineral department of the general land office where it will l remain on permanent exhibition What is the present outlook for Idaho the reporter asked Everything is favorable The winter was a mild one and stock is in good condition con-dition In the mining industry the indications indi-cations point to a prosperous season Dont you think the Wood River troubles will retard mining operations in that part of the Territory No I hardly think so I think the trouble there will prove a benefit rather than an injury for the power of the Miners Union seems to nave been broken Although > I believe that miners should receive good wages I do not like the idea of their operating the mines and locking them up when they feel disposed dis-posed |
