Show 0 Go I TELEPIIONE TALK irrr Browns View on Situation I 31 W A Brown general manager of the Molecular Telephone company of Utah arrived from Ogden yesterday and is making preliminary preparation for the introduction of the Molecular system in this city A number of the members of the city council were interyiewed last evening and the tone of their conversation S conversa-tion justifies the prediction that a right of way through tho streets will be granted the new company Mr Brown stated that he entertained no fears of interference S interfe-rence by the Ben company of this city but did not deny that a suit was pending I between the two companies in New York S which was to have been heard yesterday The suit will probably be carried up if the decision is against the Molecular company compa-ny which Mr Brown did not think probable prob-able Companies have been organized at Weiser Idaho and Helena Montana the latter to operate an exchange between that city and Butte The Weiser company have a number of instruments in operation opera-tion Temporary steps have been taken L for the organization of a company at Hai ley Mr Brown stated that the Molecular Molecu-lar n pnmnnnv nf Utah was the first com S rJ pany organized under the home company of New York It has giv WeberCache and Box Elder counties to the Ogden company and Salt Lake and Davis counties coun-ties to the Salt Lake company Mr Brown was questioned in regard to the point in controversy in the New York suit and stated that the whole gist oi the matter was that the Bell company claimed to have patented the principle of transmitting trans-mitting speech by electricity which the courts have decided is not patentable Justice Gray in the opinion upon which the Bell company seems to place so much reliance stated plainly that Bell was not entitled to any protection in the abstract principle of transmitting speech by telegraph tele-graph but only in those devices and appliances ap-pliances discovered by himself The Ogden company now have 126 instruments in-struments in use and a number have been contracted forconditioned upon the establishment estab-lishment of an exchange with Salt Lake |
