| Show F j I TIlE CONTINENTAL I I TlieTourists Home to be Reopened i To morrow j I As the tourists season approachesthere are increasing indications that there will 1 I be a greater influx of strangers during the coming summer than eer before and it I is gratifying to state in this connection I that Salt Lake will be prepared to offer the summer visitors better hotel accommodations accom-modations and more attractive abiding abidingt places than ever before If it is true that a tourists impression of a town is based I upon the degree of comfort he enjoys at L his hotel then Salt Lakes visitors during the coming summer will paint the beauties beau-ties of Zion in glowing colors It is true we have no palatial and imposing hotel I edifices but the interior conveniences are now everything that could be desired S It is only a short time ago that Major Erb sutij cted the Walker House to a most thorough renovation and for the past six weeks the same force of workmen and artists have had possession of the Continental Hotel A DEMOCRAT reporter re-porter was shown through the house this morning and discovered that it had been subjected to no less thorough treatment I than was received by the Walker and in some respects the improvements are even I more extensive The woodwork of the house has been repainted throughout J I a majority of the rooms and hallways repapered I re-papered and new and costly carpets of the most tasty designs have been laid All the old plumbing has been replaced by new and the sanitary arrangements are similar to those introduced in the Walker House and include the latest and most approved devices The room formerly used as a barber shop has been transformed into a lobby and news stand and the office bar and billiard rooms have been most artistically decorated by Mr Morris The exterior of the building has also received its share of attention and the balconies have been repainted in L pleasing and harmonious tints Even I the shade trees have been attired in a L spring garb of whitewash It is expected the Continental will be opened tomorrow It has always been ii the most attractive and popular summer home in the city owing to the pleasant surroundings and location and an exodus of Walker House boarders is anticipated tomorrow |
