Show At annual convention Bountiful retirees receive service honor The Bountiful Chapter of the National Na-tional Association of Retired Federal Fed-eral Employees received a certificate certifi-cate commemorating 25 years of continuous service. The award was presented by Federation President Paul Howard at the annual awards banquet of the Utah Federation of NARFE Chapters. Chap-ters. Chapter President Carrol Howell accepted the certificate on behalf of the chapter members. On hand to share in the honors were former Bountiful residents Earl and Mildred Hanson. Earl was the first chapter president and a charter member when Bountiful Chapter 830 was organized in 1962. ' The Hansons now reside in St. George. The banquet was the highlight of a three-day convention of federal retirees at the Ogden Hilton hotel May 13-15. Guest speaker at the banquet was Congressman Wayne Owens, who addressed problems of the various federal retirement systems. The convention included many items of interest for federal retirees such as: training seminars for chapter chap-ter officers, a discussion of health care for the elderly, federal and state income tax changes, the future fu-ture of federal retirement funds, and many others. The roster of distinguished convention con-vention speakers included Governor Gov-ernor Norman H. Bangerter, Fifth District Court Judge Eleanor Van Sciver, Professor J. D. Williams of the University of Utah Political Science Dept., an authority on the U.S. Constitution, Bevin Higgbee from IRS, and NARFE Field vice president for Region VII, Russel S. Orten. Serving as delegates from the Bountiful Chapter were: Vern Ath-man, Ath-man, Vernon Christensen, Lucille Christensen, D. Ivo Eames, and Estella Eames. Other South Davis residents in attendance included Chapter President Pres-ident Carrol Howell, Boyd and Marie Ivory and Leah Bryson. Mrs. Bryson was elected to the office of Utah Federation secretary. sec-retary. Federal retirees in the South Davis area are reminded that the Bountiful Chapter meets at the Golden Years Center on the second Tuesday of each month at 12:30 p.m. A report on convention activity will be made at the regular monthly meeting June 9.
