predicaments usually occur in bulk during the first few weeks of school but students can take their own fate into their hands and plan ahead has an entire group of staff dedicated to aiding students faculty and staff with their parking needs on campus Over the years Shane Crabtree director and administrator of Parking and Security at has learned a few tips that can help freshmen or students who haven't figured out how to make parking easier Arrive early especially the first few weeks of school Crabtree said There is an influx of students on campus the first few weeks getting books talking with academic advisors financial aid Look for parking in the outer parking areas Once you are in a lot that is to capacity it is hard to exit the lot and get back into tra traffic c. c Students often make the mistake of going to the more popular lots that usually fill up by 8 am a.m. At the Redwood Campus these lots are adjacent to Redwood Road and are often harder to get out of ofas ofas ofas as there are less exits and the exits that do exist are close to lights or lead on to Redwood Road With a constant stream of students coming comino to Parking Services is continually trying to make more spaces available to accommodate the popular class times For mornings 8 am a.m. to 11 II am a.m. classes are popular and for night students 5 pm p.m. to 7 pm p.m. classes are well Parking Services added new student parking stalls by the portable classrooms at the Redwood Campus Campusand and new student stalls at the Jordan Campus should also be aware of the construction at the campuses These projects could affect driving time to classes has several construction ongoing projects most of them should be nearly completed by the first day of fall semester Crabtree said The largest project is the tunnel system which connects the tunnels from the Administration Building to the Construction Trades Building This will not be completed before the start of school The staging area for the project has diminished the parking on the east side of campus by those two buildings by 40 percent parking at the Redwood Campus shouldn't be worried about the construction eating up needed parking Crabtree explains that there still will be adequate parking for commuters but it just wont won't be next to the building With the parking right next to the building being out of order until the construction is completed students will have have to to plan time into their schedule for walking to class The walkways will also be affected for students faculty and staff staf accessing the Administration Building Also a factor in the construction at the Redwood Campus is the walkways The walkways between the two buildings Administration and Construction Trades will also be a factor The tunnel runs directly below the sidewalks which willbe will willbe willbe be fenced off until the project will be completed Crabtree said suggesting that everyone should allow extra time to access the AD building In general students should prepare for the new semester with the expectation that they will have to factor in extra time timeto to park and walk to class even without construction obstacles Arrive early 20 30 min before your your first class be patient look for parking in the larger parking lots to the west of campus Crabtree said You will save a lot of time by parking in these lots It is not a long walk to get to class Common practice for students looking for parking is to circle the stalls in the desired parking lot then w wait it for other students to come out of class The driving student then follows the walking student in hopes of snagging their premium parking stall Almost like watching a comical version of the lion stalking its prey on the nature channel 4 r 21 x R ff Ir Y ff's s Globe
