A I 1 j 1 i y I J Yes Yes- Yes 32 32 1 l 1 No 36 No Opinion- Opinion 32 Question Three Thee If It food services were to fast food ven vendors ors would you be more likely to eat on campus i Y Yes Yes- Yes 48 es- es 48 0 0 sf No No- No 34 34 0 No Opinion 18 Opinion Opinion- ion ion- 18 t f The poll results indicate that most students like cafeteria food but would eat here more often if the cafeteria food was replaced with fast food So in other words you like food Cafeteria food good Fast food also good I suppose to many this conclusion would seem ridiculous but any typical college student can understand easily As college students we weare weare weare are young hungry and most importantly we are poor We will generally general y take whatever food is offered us if the price is right And sure enough a high priority for the many of you who wrote-in wrote additional comments was affordability You were either mad about how much the food costs here now or concerned if food were provided by name brand fast food outlets it would be more expensive V And of J of speaking economics eco ceo it is money not student opinion that will probably be the deciding factor if there is a ch change V Vin in campus food service The Student Association has been conducting research on this issue at some of the largest community colleges in the United States and they have found that when Campus food services allow fast food outlets in sales have increased an average of So what's the opposition Campus Food Service makes quite a bit of money on n the n side with n J their catering service As of right now business is down due to construction construction construction con con- in the Student Center forcing the Student Leader offices into what had been catered banquet banquet banquet ban ban- rooms If the Student Association gets its way and a fast food court is put in that will mean even less banquet space and less catering revenue So the managers of the current Food Service are against the change V What would happen to prices quality and availability of the food in the Student center if V changes were enacted remains to tobe tobe tobe be seen but at this point one thing seems cl clear ar In the battle over what students eat on campus the almighty dollar is king and student student student stu stu- stu- stu dent opinion isn't even in the match matchA V V V V t V |
