O Leavitt with DEX Members Delta Chi is a marketing and business management organization Leavitt Gives a Present By Sara Nelson Feature Editor Last month students of the chapter of Delta Epsilon Chi DEX competed against other Utah DEX chapters in the annual State Career Development Conference DEX is a business student organization organization organization which operates on local state and regional levels DEX is used as a stepping stone between the classroom and the workforce workforce workforce work work- force for many students Students learn work skills how to make business connections and develop credentials by placing in the competitions State Faculty Advisor Kathy Walton said About students participated in the statewide competition The Students competed in 18 different categories ranging from Full Service restaurant marketing to apparel and accessories sent 32 students to the competition and walked away 1 with 40 percent of the place first-place fini fin fin- i l l MT Of all who competed 18 students qualified for the national competition in Orlando Fl in April Todd Baker assistant professor of marketing said These students put in many hours of preparation and anxiety for this competition There are arc four things that students involved with DEX concentrate on to refine and develop their skills Walton said These include leadership development development development devel devel- vocational understanding social intelligence the behavioral elements of business and civic con con- We strongly encourage our students to get involved with projects projects projects pro pro- in the community Walton added DEX has done a lot of service projects Walton said They've worked on the into the streets program program program pro pro- gram in the soup kitchen serving meals to the homeless Sub for Santa and Festival of Trees for Muscular Dystrophy and this spring each chapter statewide will plant 25 trees for earth month r w i r f |
