| Show Kurt Bestor comes to for Celebration of Convocation By Amanda Nielson Entertainment Editor Renowned composer and musician musician musi musi- cian chin Kurt Bestor will grace the Alder Amphitheaters Amphitheater's stage in a special performance as part of the convocation celebration for Sept 25 Bestor created the music for more than 30 films scores and over 40 themes for national TV programs and commercials He created the music for NBC Nightly News Good Morning America and Monday Night Football Bestor has earned numerous numerous numerous numer numer- ous awards including Outstanding Film Score for A More Perfect Union Most of Bestor's life has been heen dedicated to music Growing up in Waukesha Wisconsin Bestor started started started start start- ed piano at an early age He was encouraged by hy his mother moth moth- er to improvise with his music and to create images in his mind while playing music Id get restless practicing and my mom would sit sil down at al the AI piano with me and say Play something something some some- thing that sounds like a sunrise Bestor explained He went on to explain When I think about someone whose life is characterized ed by adventure romance and courage musical images come to mind Bestor explains Not only was I interested in what these people did but hut the quality of their lives spoke to me musically I hI never really intended to become so involved in performing or recording Bestor said it hit just kind of happened Now I cant can't turn it off And it seems the line between my recording and film composing is becoming thinner I get a big rush taking four month out of my life and writing for film Its It's a lot of pressure but hut its it's inspiring to marry the musical image with the picture |
