| Show I H Horizon Ao I supports j plans for larger Gym I M s JL grows lUW so does the demand for more and bigger buildings and facilities There has been much said about adequate parking space expansion of existing facilities and construction of new buildings in general Adequate space is a part of any growing institution and living in cramped space is just another aspect of the growing pains Patience can wear thin in these kinds of circumstances and Horizon believes that steps must be taken towards helping S CC grow v. One of the buildings Horizon supports constructing is a new gym for the Redwood Road campus The present athletic facilities are indeed small and very uncomfortable for forthe forthe forthe the growing demand for physical education classes While basketball standards are located located located lo lo- lo- lo at each end of the gym the ceiling is far too short for basketball and other sports such as volleyball Horizon realizes this type of demand does require money to complete and does not give its support unknowingly Another fact that Horizon acknowledges is that there are arc many other departments and facilities standing in a long line waiting to receive their piece of the pie or to have their growth dealt with We do not want these other departments to go unnoticed either They deserve just as much consideration tion as the physical education department There is a great need for a library the possible possible possible pos pos- sible expansion of the Business Building and many other worthy causes While the purchase of South High School has taken care of some of the needs of the athletic department there are still more students students students stu stu- stu- stu dents who attend the Redwood Road campus campus campus' cam cam- pus pus' than any other location Horizon believes that where there is the demand so must be the supply Horizon would like the students to know what exactly has been planned for the future and would also like the students to become involved with the decision dedsion making process After all it is the students who are served by the facilities and it is the students who must make their voice be heard in this matter Presently a physical education facility has been placed third on a priority list submitted submitted submitted sub sub- by The Capital Facilities Request the list of priorities submitted to the Board of Regents and the state has the physical education buildings' buildings construction planned for the school year 92 1991 behind the construction of a library and an I economic production development center While Horizon supports the construction of all these facilities and does not question their position on the priority list we feel that the students should be involved in the prioritizing process |
