Show No Us No Them Only Otly Us Us by Linda UncIa Fabert Anyone not attending Carol CarolLynn CarolLynn CarolLynn Lynn Pearsons Pearson's talk Thursday October 1 missed an inspiring human being She discussed her latest book Good bye I Love You which is the true story of her life with her homosexual husband Gerald Pearson Having never heard Mrs Pearson before I fully expected a talk dealing with the woes and perils of life with a homosexual It was a pleasant surprise to listen to this ladys lady's depth of understanding and compassion for a part of society that we as members of that society tend to shun as something vile Although Carol Lynn and Gerald Pearson were divorced after more than ten years of marriage she continued to try to learn all that she could about homosexuality in an effort to understand what her husband went through and in 1984 when Gerald Pearson was diagnosed as having AIDS sh she took him into her home and nursed him until his death As a result of of her research coupled with immense compassion Mrs Pearson is extremely ly successful at teaching us to see homosexuals as people rather than as labeled dehumanized de de- de-d de humanized beings According to Mrs Pearson nearly everyone has had an acquaintanceship with at least one homosexual and an extremely high percentage of families have at least one homosexual member This is very sobering and for those involved or acquainted with homosexuals homosexuals homosexuals homo homo- it is very painful and difficult to deal with Often relatives feel I alone or and/or ridden guilt-ridden because they cant can't understand how or why someone they're close to is is' homo hom sexual Anger disgust and denial can follow and it is not un unusual suaI for families to cut themselves off ff from homosexual members However there is a support suppo group in Salt Lake City which was formed for parents spouses and family members of homosexuals It is called Who Care and they meet on the third Sunday of each month For more information regarding this support group you may write to q People Who Care PO Box lT One thing I have lear learned ed said f Mrs Pe Pearson is that t there ere is s no no- Us Us' is no Them ThemI There is only Us j v Think about it a 1 |
