Show Letters Editorials 1 v Dear Editor March 2 1983 was the first day that students could reaffirm their Spring Quarter Schedules and pay their fees if they wished to My complaint is waiting in jn the long lines for 15 to 20 minutes after the MultiPurpose MultiPurpose Multipurpose Multi Multi- purpose Center is supposed to be open Many students left because they felt their time would be better spent doing other things Mo Most t of us who were there at wanted to hustle and pick up our sched schedules les and get to class It got to the point where you would have liked to have knocked down the door If the workers in there cant can't set up and open on time then set up earlier Its It's not like students have all the time in the world to stand in these outrageous outrageous outrageous out out- lines I think we deserve a little more consideration than that Better Things to do than wait vait in lines Name with held please Dear Editor registration is discouraging because students stand in line one to two ht hours urs to get classes a es they s y need e lorr orx want wan This is disturbing to students for they usually usually- have other classes to go to Students get there about one hour before their next class starts and still may have to step out of line to make it to their next class Students cannot afford to miss their classes for they are preparing for final exams There are ways that might help to improve the system Have two doors open so that that- two lines can be formed to the two computers Divide the alphabet into two parts so that the lines flow more evenly Add another day for students to pick up their attentive schedule dealing with pre- pre registration This way students need not miss their classes Becky Lee Patterson c F Dear Editor t I I am am writing this in regards to myself and other concerned students about the general education program program program pro pro- gram here at U. U Tech There seems to be a pro problem lem in this program in that there needs to be a wider variety variety variety var var- of classes for students to choose from I realize that new classes have been 0 offered in the toe catalog from time to time to the growing interest of students and to give a wider vider selection but there are still problems One problem with the general education program is that once a anew anew anew new class has been offered it seems that it is only offered at at atone one hour during the day If the class doesn't fit into the students student's schedule he is unable to take advantage of the course Also after a new class has been offered it seems that it is only available available available avail avail- able one time during a school year It then disappears and is never heard of again This is a problem because it creates discouragement in students who would have liked to take the class at some future date I feel the biggest problem in the general education program at U. U Tech is the lack of teachers We are understaffed The teachers t ch rs th that t we wedo we wedo wedo do have hav are teaching full loads and doing all that they can to meet the demands of students The problem is that we we simply need more teachers If we were staffed with a larger number of teachers maybe a wider variety of classes would be made available But as for now there is a concerning problem with our general edu education program for these reasons thus stated Roger Stewart |
