Show relief society opens season laith with program and party by isabelle isabel redd kedd monday evening marked the opening season for the monticello relief society when a large crowd gathered at the chui church h for the opening social the RS bolois gold and blue were carried out in in a decorative scheme green boughs with gold an and d blue flowers e banked at the front of the stage added much to th attractiveness of the room small tables I 1 with a service for four were decorated I 1 with a centerpiece of gold I 1 and blue flowers the favors were gold and blue book marks with the RS schedule printed on them A delicious three course supper was served A pageant written to give a glimpse of the RS educational work of the year followed thomas evans violi violinist ann palmer or organist gamst ruth bailey and vint lyman soloists furnished the music and barbara thompson i was the reader I 1 the first scene was very effective 1 picturing a ma mountain buntain background and the disciples of jesus listening tap t his sermon on the I 1 mount the picture changes as they athey all stand with outstretched out stretched hands to watch his ascension into heaven A musical reading joseph smiths first prayer introduced the dramatization at the smith home karl lyman represented father smith marie redd played the role of mother smith and mason redd effectively represent en young joseph T the he work meeting picture portraying the many and varied activities tivi ties of relief society wor workers I 1 hers on that day showed the co opera tion of the society with the bishop in the welfare work the social service day was portrayed with a family group seated around the table reading a letter from their son who is in the service of his country and as they look at his photo they picture the time when he will return the service boys and girls representing the various branches of the service marched in from the back of the stage to the tune of johnny comes marching home the program closed by the assembly singing keep the home fires burning then social dancing was enjoyed to the tunes played by thomas evans and his daughter madolyn mrs D B perkins wrote the pageant and had charge of the program mrs H lloyd hansen mrs F Y jensen and mrs C A frost were responsible for the very fine supper the committee on decorations was comprised of mrs lloyd barton mrs heber frost and mrs joe adams all of whom d displayed their usual skill invitation committee members were mrs john lewis mrs karl lyman mrs C W thompson and mrs tom jones and last but not least the reception committee was mr and mrs C W thompson and mr and mrs john lewis much credit is due the commit |
