Show t meditation i the worshipers had gone and thru the tha open door i I 1 glimpsed an altar on which candles burned i cool and withdrawn far from the traffics roar at first I 1 envied those who could be sure i of finding god within that holy place i then I 1 remembered that I 1 had just seen the flaming sunrise from a lofty hill last evening when the world was still i rapt I 1 had viewed the sunsets fiery glow and gazing on the darkening heavens afar had seen a radiant angel stoop to light the shining candle of alie evening star then quiet filled my soul and deep content since the whole world is god gods 3 bright tenement I 1 need no altar and no sacred shrine all ground is hallowed every spot divine una W harsen in the christian century |
