Show dahlia bulbs should be dug now if they are to be preserved stems should be cut off two inches above the root A nail or other sharp instrument should then be driven through the stern stem stub into the root bulbs should then be turned upside down and allowed to drain if bulbs are not properly drained the juices cause decay after the dahlia bulbs have been drained they should be allowed to stand in the sun for two or three hours when dry they should be placed in dirt floored cellars and covered with dry sand or wrapped in oil paper or peat moss if they become too dry during the winter they should be sprinkled with water |
