Show our weekly chat M M V 0 time tim is passing so quickly we can scarcely realize that we are entering upon the last full week of this month nor can we believe it is nearly seven weeks since we made that misstep mis step which I 1 changed the scene for us in a manner of speaking this is but another ways way of saying that we are as aa busy as ever aver although engaged in work at i home instead of making the usual trips to monticello and in other directions when necessary to contact those interested in our two outstanding missions in this western land the one to publish your weely paper and the other in connection with our work in the valley i we are again confronted with 1 a form of opposing thought from some of our nearby readers who think we should not mention any of our personal affairs meaning those which pertain to our settlement and those who are so vital a part of this undertaking altho distant readers are again taking more interest in the paper because of this weekly chat and other things we include we ask of our local friends to bear in mind that our community life is as much a part of the general plan as that of all other outlying districts and that if it were not for the interest of distant readers who subscribe to the abe record because of our ownership and because they are keeping close watch of our progress here it would handicap us in the publication thereof hereof their support is also necessary and appreciated since a county newspaper s for its readers and their friends who look for such information as we print concerning all nearby communities muni ties we can but continue our present form of writing for the time being in order to satisfy the more distant readers who might in no other way read of some of i your activities es as well since the time is not too far distant when i they will be migrating to this intermountain ter country too our advent into this part of southern utah will be better understood der stood next year and in uni the i years beyond and in the interim we shall continue to forge ahead trying our best to be a fr friend end to all who cross our pathway regardless gard less of the things we hear or those which are spoken direct 1 ly to us concerning our manner of living and our writings another trip to monticello last week accomplished what we set I 1 out to do although it was impossible to do much to help our faithful coworker co worker elmer who was doing double the amount of work which falls to his lot each week due to the temporary disability of mr seaman who is now recovering however mrs seaman was also indisposed due to infected teeth and these co work ers have therefore been in our thoughts over a period of days I 1 work in the valley is progressing I as usual without any outstanding events to mention and we are all looking forward to the usual family dinner party on thursday which will be held this year in the lower community dining room with daisy naden as hostess assisted by nellie reid and mary iCar cameron neron who will each prepare a part of the dinner our blanding fri neds elva sprague and dr cohn were guests over the weekend week end and keeping in mind our family party on thanksgiving givin g day they each brought a gift of food which we are unaccustomed cus tomed to have and which will be enjoyed full measure on thursday da y since the state law has supported the presidents change of date for the observance of thanksgiving day we are falling in line with the decision and will tell you about our day and other things we are doing in the next issue |
