Show these changing times I 1 by marie M ogden dear friends everywhere through the medium of th 5 column may we say a few words in regard to the editorial the parting of the ways and the letters published last week both of which indicate a desire on the part of our editor to withdraw from our work because of the change of policy we will adopt but which is not the only reason for his decision we wish to give credit where credit is due 0 however and to this end we speak now future developments and our works will speak for themselves later time will also prove that our decision to limit the editor manager whoever he may be to county and state affairs is wise in order that the san juan record may better serve as a mouthpiece for the constructive tive up building of our coun ty seat and adjoining communities we are grateful to mr and mrs wilkinson for the constructive work they have done during past months our paper has improved and gained new friends and is almost self supporting so far as overhead expenses are concerned although be it remembered that we from the home of truth who are assisting the editor receive no salary for our work and have contributed in other ways to meet all past deficits it is true that we are facing another crisis in regard to future upkeep due to the unfinished payments on our Lino graph and other equipment which it was necessary to buy when the disastrous fire of 1937 destroyed our plant and the record building it is therefore necessary that we expand our publishing business and to this end we are seeking help and the cooperation of others who are engaged in publishing their own periodicals which can be printed in our shop although we are not quite ready to give you the detail of this plan we regret that our editor is unwilling to concede that our guidance is correct and that we must follow it to the letter as in all times past when changes are necessary in order that the progressive work of each succeeding year may get under way we also regret that the leatter from mr kullgren should cause him to write in such detail about our personal affairs and that he gives vent to his feeling of disapproval in regard to our change of policy rather than to work in harmony with the plan we have in the making willing to serve you our close neighbors and our distant friends in the same constructive way as in the past thereby receiving the financial benefit he has enjoyed since affiliating with us with an increase of salary when the adjustments just ments of the future will justify the further expansion we are considering be that as it may we can only accept his decision of the moment and trust that ere long the seeming wrong will be made right in so far as differences of opinion are concerned we know that if our editor would make more careful study of the information printed in the B beacon e a e 0 n light he would see the truth therein and if he will only try to believe that the TIME IS COME to expose the overlords and the plotters who are working iniquity he will feel grateful to mr kullgren and others who have the courage to oppose the things persons and conditions which are so detrimental to the future welfare of all who call themselves americans and those who are trying to serve in accord with the message of jesus the christ and the principles of right living he t taught au we therefore welcome the opportunity port unity to work with those who do know because they have made a life study of conditions and we also know that what mr kullgren writes or gives publicity to in his monthly messenger t the beacon light in regard to national affairs is truth and that he will also prove himself true to the trust placed in him the truth will naturally disturb the stagnant peace which has prevailed for so long amon among those who are content to let things take their course in so far as governmental affairs and the price and profit system and other unjust practices are concerned whereby the rank and file are held under the domination of the overlords and money changers and when only those who hold the power or so they think may prosper in a financial and material way we ask your indulgence for the moment and when our plan in the making is fully developed we know that you will be grateful that we have the courage to face this crisis in order that the san juan record may continue to serve you as a county and state newspaper while the new issue to be printed will be of equal importance as a means of presenting the true picture as we view it and as it is being relayed to us through our recorded word over a period of many months and especially since the beginning of 1938 having come through a period of seven years of trial at that time in arder to prove our own worthiness to carry on the greater responsibilities of the future and having overcome the negative thoughts words and deeds of those who thought they were ready to follow the pathway we have chosen and to work in harmony with our recorded word we are not going to weaken in any way nor are we willing to let our reasoning mind or that which is offered as advice from any coworker or well meaning friend sway us in regard to the decisions we are guided to make through higher mind contact and in so far as that which we know is truth in regard to these changing times we do not agree with mr kullgren on all things although those on which we differ do not relate to the message he is is given to relay through the beacon light in regard to world affairs and since it is this message we must uphold the minor disagreements are as nothing and will be adjusted in the fullness of time the most important thing we would like you to take into consideration now is that jesus was obliged to call attention to the unworthy practices of living and the untruth expressed by those who lived according to the letter of the law but who paid little or no attention to the spirit of the law and to the two commandments mand ments and the third one he gave as embracing all he was crucified because he dared to oppose those who held the power in those days and he told his disciples and followers that they too must expect to be condemned and crucified after the manner of the times in which they lived he has told us the same thing over and over again in our messages recorded since 1931 32 and it has been so the end is not yet and although we may be called upon to suffer greater humiliation for the sake of upholding the truth we know that in the final analysis TRUTH WILL PREVAIL and we shall rise victorious when the enemy which has lurked in the background and worked under cover is forced into the open and as the underhand plots and injustices of the past are brought into the light of the new day just ahead next week we may be able to say more in regard to the future developments and in the meanwhile we send our love to you all and ask that you reserve your opinion in regard to the seeming maladjustments adjustments mal of the moment until the next word is relayed to you faithfully yours M M 0 note As mentioned recently we are receiving letters from distant friends expressing approval of the idea to print a separate edition in which more of the de tail of things to which are giving I 1 thought in regard to these changing 1 I times might be given another such letter arrived today from our Fact friend of tho the midwest who is also aware of the need to express the truth she mentions a publication which she recommends and we pass this information on to you we quote a few sentences from her letter as follows 1 I read the account of your trip a very interesting one apparently parent ly you speak of the taverns and the way youth is living today surely it is terrible satan is turned loose in these times and is expressing through the majority of humans of our civilization who are in control of our politics and our government how did they get there because the mind of christ has been stifled by our so called christianity yes we are going to see many changes soon please tell me what is going to happen to large cities we must be assured concerning the near future I 1 iam am close to the prophetic age and was quoted in the july issue you should take this little magazine loc for three issues address the prophetic tc age ashland ohio perhaps you will not agree with it but if our bible and the book of revelations mean anything they were written to depict the period of years just ahead tell me more about rev jeffers Is he to be tortured as was st paul and are others to be because of prophetic vision and keen understanding note these and other questions we will answer through correspondence but we call attention to the closing part of our message in this issue which answers the final question and to which we may add that only as greater numbers who are unafraid to express truth will drive untruth and those who practice it into the open may we hope for the turnabout which will put an end to the wickedness and injustices of the past we also know that many like our editor and others other s who are making C comfortable living are unaware of the dangers ahead nor do they realize that god will also take a hand when we who are his appointed messengers can do no more note in closing we offer an interesting clipping we found in the letter mentioned above although the source of this information is not given hard to deane in greece long long ago rates bellowed for all to hear define your terms since then in the field of morals people have been searching for the right meaning of good and the right meaning of bad and since then especially ally in the field of politics they have been trying to understand terms like liberal I 1 conservative serva tive and radical for what they may be worth therefore here are some sample political definitions offered recently by voters in a gallup poll 1 A liberal a he approves of new ideas b he be wants to bring about a better society c he is wining willing to spend money for the common people and d dy wants to see the littile man mana 6 ahead 2 A conservative a he be wants to do things solidly and slowly conserve things b he wants to keep the best of what levs got c he keeps within his means and d hes a practical liberal 3 A radical he is a man whose feet are planted firmly in the sky readers may make their own identifications As for us we are not hardy enough at the moment either to identify or define all we keep thinking of all that keeps running through our mind are these few lines from gilbert and sullivan every little boy or girl born into this world alive or else a little conservative I 1 Is either a little liberal |
