Show Woman Of The Week I By Emma D. King j There's Elsa Bauer, red haired beauty operator of Carel's. Elsa has been in the United States five years from her native Germany, where she was born in Hamburg. During the first part of the war the Bauer family lived in an apartment in the center of Hamburg. Ham-burg. Because of the location of the apartment they were in great danger constantly. During one of the night bombing bomb-ing raids the. apartment was hit and Bauers found themselves in the streets, thankful to be alive but ali earthly possessions gone. After struggling for five years they got their passports! In Utah she attended high school and found the people helpful help-ful and interested in her future. After five years, a high school education, and now a graduate of Carel's Beauty School "it's ttie best country in the world," Elsa says. A convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elsa appreciates the opportunities offered her in her church and her new adopted country. For those who have helped her to establish her life's career, independent and appreciative, Elsa is paying them back. Elsa's musical talent playing the piano, is one of her great joys and hobbies but she also likes horse back riding. What ever she ndeavors she does well and she has earned individual awards in her Gleaner class of the MIA. So to Elsa, who in but 19 years has lived a life time of experience and has used them for development develop-ment to take her place in home life, church, a career and society, a King's Ransom. |
