Show ADVEHTISTS PAY HONOR TO MRS. L. E. ROWE Mrs. L. E. Rowe was honored last Saturday as the Central Sev- enth-Day Adventist church joined other Adventist churches through, out the world in observing the 100 anniversary of the denomination's denomina-tion's Sabbath schools. With nearly 56 years of continuous contin-uous Sabbath school membership, Mrs. Rowe tops the list of longtime long-time school members in the local church. She first enrolled in 1896 in Nebraska, and came to Sugar House about 10 years ago. She lias attended Sabbath School Bible classes since before the turn of the century. Elder A. Frank Purcell, pastor of the local church, who presented the honors as part of the centennial centen-nial program, revealed that there are now 17,373 Sabbath schools "with a world membership of 1,034,060. Since the first one was organized in Rochester, New York in 1852, he said, more than 581,000,000 has been contributed through this branch of the church to promote the spread of the gos. pel in foreign lands. Recently a feature-length motion mo-tion picture, "What God Hath Wrought," has been completed by the church, which depicts the historical growth of the Adventist Sabbath schools. This color flm will be released this month. |
