Show SUGAR HOUSE SALUTES B P WOMEN By Virginia Baker Participating in the silver . anniversary an-niversary of the National Federation Federa-tion of Busines and Professional Women this week is the Sugar House chapter of Business and Profesional Women, headed by Mrs. Ethel Garwood, president. The week of September 28 to October 4 has been designated as National Business Women's Week and events have been planned to point up th aims and objectives of BPW, The Federation's purpose is to raise standards for women in industry, science, in all vocational civic and cultural activities. In an effort to raise funds for its activities, the southeast club sponsored a double page ad in this issue of the News Bulletin, and local merchants cooperated with the Business and Profession Women Wo-men by participating generously in the page saluting the local group of women. The Sugar House club meets the second Wednesday of each month, with a special speaker on some problem of interest to women. wo-men. This month, Dr. Maron G. Merkeley, assistant superintend, ant of Salt Lake City schools, informed in-formed members of the club the qualifications necesary in a school TDoard member. In October, speakers speak-ers will represent both the Democratic Demo-cratic and Republican parties. Sugar House BPW members engineered en-gineered the project which cleaned clean-ed up the plaza a few years ago, and landscaped the area. The local organization is working work-ing with other civic groups in an effort to establish a public rest-room rest-room in Sugar House. Under the direction of Mrs. Is laying plans to help rais funds Charles Lay, Sugar House group to put up a new building for the Fairmont Boys and Girls Club. In addition to Mrs. Garwood, other officers of the club include Vice President Mabel Nansoh, Recording Re-cording Secretary Naydean Jimas, Corresponding Secretary Rhoda Chidester and Treasurer Vesta Lee. |
