Show SHERMAN CLASS VISITS UTAH UNIVERSITY MUSEUM Sherman school fourth graders visited the University of Utah museum on March 4, terming it a rare treat. The children were interested in the display of skeltons and fossils such as are found in the Dinosaur National monument, but the Un- iversity claims to have the "most perfect skelton of the allosaurus dinosaur" ever mounted. According to history, this fierce flesh-eating reptile roamed the Uintah basin 135,000,000 years ago. The children's attention was also called to the display of the leg bone of the very largest dinosaur, called the "brantosaurus," which wras a plant-eating animal which walked around on four huge legs measuring about 11 Vi feet high. The pupils also enjoyed their visit to the Anthropology exhibit, where they were able to see the culture, habits and customs of the early Indian civilization in Utah. Teachers, Mrs. Clara Peterson and Mrs. Celpha Koldewyn, termed the trip a "rare treat" to the children. Transportation was provided by Mrs. Guy D. Alder, Mrs. William D. Callister, Mrs. Wesley Kuehn and Mrs. Glen D. Saunders. |
